Peach Almond Coffeecake

Description:
Fresh peaches exquisitely displayed across the top of this delight cling to the late summer taste buds.

Ingredients:
8 T butter
1 c sugar plus 2T
3 eggs
1 T amaretto
1/2 t almond extract
1 c flour (I use 1/2 unbleached white and 1/2 ww pastry)
1 t baking powder
1/4 t salt
3 peaches peeled and sliced
2 T lemon juice
1/4 t ground nutmeg
1/4 c slivered almonds

Directions:
Preheat oven to 375.
Cream butter and 1 cup of sugar until light and fluffy.
Add eggs and amaretto/vanilla; beat until light.
Stir together flour, baking powder, and salt.
Mix dry with wet and beat well.
Turn into greased and floured 11-inch fluted tart pan with removable bottom or
10-inch springform pan.
Toss peaches with lemon juice, remaining 2 tbsp sugar and nutmeg.
Arrange the fruit on top.
Sprinkle with nuts.
Bake 40-45 minutes or until golden brown.
Serve warm or cool, with whipped cream or creme fraiche, if desired.
