Pennsylvania Beer Bread
Description:
This is a wonderful quick bread that you can experiment with using all sorts of beer. Each beer imparts its own subtle flavor and character from strong stouts to nutty brown ales to lighter pilsners. Ingredients: 12 Ounces of Yuengling Beer/Ale/Stout/Pilsner 1 1/2 Cups Unbleached Flour 1 1/2 Cups Whole Wheat Flour 1 Teaspoon Salt 3 Teaspoons Baking Powder 3 Tablespoons Sugar Directions: Mix all the dry ingredients in a bowl. Grease a loaf pan and pre-heat the oven to 350 degrees. In a separate bowl, add the beer followed by the dry ingredients. Mix well. Pour into prepared loaf pan. Bake for 45 minutes and then test for doneness. The loaf is done when you tap on the center of the loaf and it sounds hollow. When done, remove from loaf pan and let cool a bit on a wire rack. Serve warm with butter and jelly/preserves/honey. Recipe Summary: Yield: 1 Loaf Prep Time: 5 Minutes Cook Time: 45 Minutes Comments: |
