Whole Grain Waffles
Description:
These waffles are a favorite of our guests. I serve them with either maple syrup or fruited syrups. An easy way to add fiber to your diet. Can be frozen and reheated in microwave or toaster, our family love them that way too. Ingredients: 2 cups whole wheat flour 1 cup all purpose flour 3/4 cup oat bran 1/4 cup cracked wheat 1 tsp baking soda 1 tsp salt 4 tsp baking powder 1/4 cup sugar 1 cup oil 4 egg yolks 3 1/2 cups sour milk or buttermilk 6 egg whites beaten until stiff Directions: Mix dry ingredients together with a whisk. Then whisk together the oil, egg yolks and milk. Mix the liquid ingredients into dry until just mixed. Beat the egg whites until stiff and fold into other ingredients. Heat greased waffle iron for five minutes. Cook waffles according to directions on your waffle iron, usually about four minutes for each batch. You can add pecans, blueberries, grated apples.
