It's like coming home

"We've only just arrived and it's like coming home. The Superior Suite is wonderful and so very relaxing. We are looking forward to another memorable stay. Such a beautiful, tasty breakfast so nicely presented. What a wonderful way to start the day. A lazy, relaxing morning following by a tourist trip to Split Rock Lighthouse. And best of all we get to return here for a cozy evening with the fireplace. I, too, loved our second year here. We know what we're getting when we sign on with you and it's much appreciated! I always hope that good things last forever and this is one of them! Peace and Love.

52nd Anniversary: Perfect!!!

Twelve years ago we came to the Firelight to celebrate our 40th anniversary and stayed in the Superior Suite. This week we are back in the Superior Suite celebrating our 52nd anniversary. This visit was just like that visit 12 years ago and all our other stays in between: Perfect!!! but too short. Thank you Jim and Joy for all your hard work and your special touches that make the Firelight so warm and welcoming. I will end this like I have all our other entries "We will be back".

So Romantic

Thank you so much for the wonderful stay. I was here 12 years ago and always intended to come back because I remembered it as so romantic...and it really is! Loved the Jacuzzi tub, fireplace and wonderful morning breakfasts. So relaxing, romantic and beautiful.

Romance of The Firelight Inn

Your hospitality and the romance of The Firelight Inn will always be a part of our story. In October of 2010, I brought Dale up here for a night away. It was here that Dale first knew he was in love with me. He told me this tonight, just before he proposed! Thank you for helping to make this such a memorable event in our lives. We will surely return! God bless you always.

Exactly where I needed to be

"I always wanted to go to a B&B. He planned this romantic getaway!! As we waited for the time to pass to finally get here, I had a few things happen along the way. I lost a dear friend and I lost a best friend within two months. I was blessed to find out we are having a baby. Eric received a promotion. My life has just been flipped inside out. I buried my best friend. By the time I arrived at The Firelight Inn, I realized that here is exactly where I needed to be. Thank you so very much. This home is so inviting, comforting, and elegant. I felt at peace. We have to leave but I am sure we will be back. Loved breakfast!!! Great movie selection. I love every small touch and we slept so well. Gream smells.

"What a wonderful experience. We imagined ourselves as guests of Mr. Barnum then remembered we enjoyed the air conditioning, the jacuzzi and got to put on our jeans this morning. However, they would have envied our breakfast!

Perfection!

Everything about The Firelight and our visit was perfection. The Inn was immaculate and very well appointed with extraordinay attention to every detail for comfort, luxury and romance. Joy and Jim are exceptional hosts. We'd recommend The Firelight to anyone who won't settle for second best. This is the best and we'll be back!!

Home Away From Home

My wife and I wanted to do something fun for our honeymoon, so we took a flier on the Firelight Inn. From the minute we pulled in to the driveway we felt right at home! Jim and Joy met us at the door and gave us the tour. After our trip was over, it was obvious to my wife and I we were coming back next year. We have been back for every anniversary since. Jim and Joy make you feel like family. The rooms are beautiful (we have stayed in several). But if you still need to be convinced to stay here I saved the best for last. I am convinced Jim and Joy serve the best breakfasts in town! They make so many mouthwatering breakfasts, but our favorites is probably the Stuffed French Toast. And the Bread and Muffins are the best around. After eating the delicious breakfast, the biggest problem my wife and I have when we stay is making ourselves leave the comfortable room so we can enjoy the rest of Duluth on our trip! I could go on writing forever, but do yourself a favor and stop on by, you can thank me later!

Jim and Joy are a delight. They greet you at the front door upon arrival and you immediately feel you have new best friends. Home is unbelievable, like the hospitality. Can't wait to return. Breakfast is amazing!!

Another amazing anniversary!

My wife & I stayed at the Firelight a few years ago and it has remained our favorite B&B. We have been to several B&B's in the Midwest and nothing has compared to the firelight. Here are the things that make it our favorite... 1) It feels like a warm comfortable home... not a stuffy antique museum. We have been to some that were hyped up because of the "fancy" factor… but they were not a comfortable stay. 2) Jim & Joy (the Innkeepers) are so hospitable! They greet you at the door and make you feel at home. We had great conversations with them throughout our stay as well. 3) The food... WOW! Joy makes an outstanding breakfast... homemade scones, muffins, Quiche, fruit pancakes etc!!! It is amazing! And their HUGE variety of coffee & tea is amazing, and it is accessible all day! 4) The rooms are very comfortable. We have stayed in the Barnum Suite... our fav. And most recently the Isle Royale Suite. Both were very roomy and the in-room Jacuzzi's are wonderful! They have the most comfortable featherbeds... they are so nice I purchased one from them after our 1st stay! And the Alarm clock with iPod dock is a very nice touch! I can't say enough about the Firelight! We are making this a fall tradition. Thanks Jim & Joy!

Clean, Friendly, & Charming B&B

This B&B is excellent! VERY clean, rooms are excellent, complete with ever ammenity, including jacuzzi tib in the rooms, private bath with shower, fireplace, stereo, iPod compatibale stereo, A/C, ceiling fan, TV/VCR/DVD (with a library of movies), great views from room. Very beautiful histroic building, but updated enough to make it very comfortable. Breakfast was very filling and well prepared and tasty! Large screened in front porch for relaxing, reading, playing games (that they have on hand for your enjoyment). Jim and Joy, the Innkeepers, were VERY accomodating and met every need, as well as answering lots of questions about things to do in the local area, recommending restaurants and sights that you won't want to miss. They also have lots of local restaurant menus at the home for your review so you can pick the local place you'd like to enjoy for lunch and/or dinner. HIGHLY recommend this B&B!

An Outstanding Experience

An Outstanding Experience Time away from our busy lives is very precious. The Firelight Inn was the perfect place for reconnection and romance. From the refreshments at check-in, to wandering down the hall to our massages, to desert in our room, to the most fabulous breakfast ever served in our room, we highly recommend this Inn to all our fellow travelers! WOW!

Great place. Fantastic food delivered to your room rather than meeting at a table w/strangers fro breakfast. Incredibly wonderful place w/a lot of history. The Jim & Joy were so friendly & accomodating. It was a perfect get away with a great jacuzzi & fireplace. So cozy & romantic & totally uninterrupted & private. I have already recommended the Firelight Inn to everyone I've talked to. Defineately worth it!

Pick The Firelight Inn!

The Firelight Inn is simply the best of the best. We have stayed at a lot of great B&Bs, but this one has it all! A beautiful location, a gorgeous home with spectacular rooms, yummy breakfasts delivered to your room, and inn keepers who are some of the most wonderful people we have met. Joy and Jim are always available should you need anything but at the same time leave you alone to enjoy your relaxing stay - it is an art, that of being there but not being in your space, and Jim and Joy have it down pat! We stayed in the Superior Suite and were wowed - the pictures are beautiful but do not do the suite justice by any means. The suite is HUGE and the amenities divine - we had a very hard time leaving. :) Choose The Firelight Inn - you simply can't go wrong.

Great Romantic Getaway

We have stayed at the Firelight Inn the last two years around Valentine's Day and it has been a super stay. It is a nice quiet, romantice getaway. We have stayed in the Superior Suite which is awesome!! and the Isle Royal Suite very is very romantic, done up in red and white. The breakfasts are to die for. We enjoyed the warm fire and the bubbling spa bath as well. I would recommend this spot to anyone who enjoy peace and quiet as well as great food and super hospitality from the Inn Keepers!

Romantic Inn and Our Favorite

We have just returned from our 2nd visit to the Firelight Inn. We have visited several Inns, but this is the only one we have returned to. It is by far our favorite. We especially appreciate the privacy of breakfast served in our room. With a gentle knock on the door, and a quiet "Good Morning" our delicious breakfast is left for us. If you really want to stay in your room together, we suggest ordering the wild rice soup and warm bread supper that can also be brought to your room and eaten in front of the fireplace. With the the large 4 poster bed, fireplace, and Jacuzzi, our room was comfortable and romantic. If you want to relax, be pampered, be served oh, so delicious food, and yes spend relaxing romantic time with your partner we highly recommend a stay at The Firelight Inn on Oregon Creek.

Favorite romantic weekend getaway!

My husband and I walked in their front door and I could not believe how relaxing the atmosphere was! I have honestly never been so relaxed being away from home! They offer the best breakfast ever brought to your suite each morning. The beds were so comfy. The decor of the Superior Suite was awesome. We absolutely loved that the water in the jacuzzi tub actually held its temp very well. This was by far the best, most romantic weekend getaway my hubby and I have ever had! I cannot wait to go back!!!

Pampered

I stayed at the Firelight Inn after hard day of moving from one house to another. I am so glad I did! Owners Jim and Joy Fischer went overboard to make me feel welcome and at home. I stayed in a beautiful room complete with a jacuzzi, yummy bathrobes, and a tv. I was dead tired and slept on such a comfy bed! In the morning, Joy made us the most wonderful breakfast! I was being pampered and loving every minute. The Firelight Inn is located in a quiet and peaceful area of historic Duluth, Mn. I loved it Jim and Joy! Thank you sooo much!

Our favorite tradition

My wife & I spent 3 days at the Firelight a couple weeks ago and it was once again, incredible. We try to get up to the Firelight every year, usually for our anniversary, but we wanted to go earlier this year. It has become a tradition for us. We may go a second time this year! We stayed for the 2nd time in the Superior Suite which has become our favorite.. I think we have now stayed in 4 of the 5 suites and we don't have anything negative to say about any of them. We love the hot tub and the mattresses are extremely comfortable. My wife deals with chronic pain and we have only found a few places where she will have a comfortable sleep and this is on the top of the list. I think the highlight is the food that is delivered right to our door in the morning. We have never had this kind of service at another B&B. This year it was the Strawberry French Toast that blew us away! If you are looking for a romantic getaway this is the place. Jim & Joy are fantastic and their hospitality brings us back every time.
