Circa 1849. Located 23 miles from Yosemite National Park, the 1992 restoration features both an 1849 adobe building with 18-inch-thick walls constructed during the Gold Rush and a 1914 building erected to house workers for the Hetch Hetchy Dam. Both feature two-story balconies. There is a Victorian parlor, a gourmet restaurant and a Western saloon. Guest rooms feature European antiques, down comforters, some feather beds, in-room coffee, phones with data ports, and hair dryers. The feeling is one of casual elegance.

Describe Garden and Grounds

The Garden Courtyard has a gracious and peaceful ambiance enfolding an outdoor dining area for our restaurant dining on the lower terrace and offering tall tables and chairs for chatting over drinks on the upper terrace. The entire courtyard is filled with the soft, delicate fragrances of roses, wisteria, azaleas, lilac, tulips, and violets each in their season and shaded with tall trees. A curtained gazebo graces the upper Courtyard Garden terrace where a fountain and still other flowering plants complete the tranquil atmosphere. The night sky is visible with stars and moon providing a delightful addition to the warm evenings.

Historic Interest

Our Adobe building was built in 1849 and our Queen Anne addition was built in 1914. The Adobe was frequented by miners seeking fortune during California's Gold Rush era. The Queeen Anne was constructed to house officials that worked on the Hetch Hetchy project, the water way that supplies the entire San Francisco bay area with water. The buildings have been painstakingly re-renovated and kept true to original form for the purpose of maintaining the historic value of both.
