Loved It!

We loved, loved, loved our visit with you, Kim and Susan. We came here for the Plains Chautauqua which was great. However, we were kept so busy that we didn't have enough time to enjoy the delightful and special atmosphere of your lovely inn. Therefore, we must and will return! With thankfulness and love, Jack and Jane A

Return for Romance

We so enjoyed our 1st anniversary stay. Thank you so much for the great accommodations and superb breakfast. Absolutely loved the black forest and cheese pie with orange pecan pancakes. It is always good to see you again. Thanks, also, for the extra romantic touches. We loved our honeymoon here, last year, and look forward to many future anniversary celebrations here. We love it here!

Americus

Doug and Doris V., Americus Garden Inn We have learned over the years that we love to tour historic sites together, and we look for beautiful B&Bs to stay at when we do. Your house and this part of Georgia fit the bill perfectly. Our visits to Andersonville National Historic Site and Jimmy Carter National Historic Site in Plains were wonderful (despite Andersonville's tragic history). We posted a picture of your beautiful home on Facebook and it created quite a stir amongst our friends. Thank you for the delicious breakfasts, warm hospitality and romantic setting. We look forward to returning.

Love at First Sight

From the moment I spoke with you on the phone, I knew this visit would be a "wow" moment in our lives. All other B&B experiences pale. Your lovely home and amazing gardens were above and beyond all other B&B's San Francisco to the Poconos. Our first visit, but, not our last.

Mom's Birthday Surprise

This was our first B&B experience and we have to say, we are so glad it was here! You are so kind and friendly, you made it very enjoyable. Rooms were very cozy and breakfast was amazing. Loved everything from the chocolate muffins to the ham & cheese impossible pie. Hope to come back and visit again. And, thank you for making our Mom's 70th birthday so special. Kim, Nicole & Kelly

Romantic Anniversary Visit

We are so glad we chose to stay at the Americus Garden Inn for our romantic anniversary excursion. Everything was consistent with 5 star rating, starting with Susan meeting us outside with an umbrella during the rain when we arrived...to a personal touch of congratulations over our door. We stayed in the Scarlet room which was perfectly romantic. The breakfast was delicious and beautifully presented. We plan to stay again.

Best B&B Ever

Our first stay at Americus Garden Inn was back in 2009. We selected it because it was a half way point between our home in Florida and family in Tenn. We enjoyed our stay on our way north so much that we reserved a room for the return trip. In December 12 we again traveled north for a family wedding and stopped at Americus Garden Inn on our way to Tenn. and our return to FL. It was like we were going home. Kim and Susan make you feel like you are staying with family. The rooms are large, very clean and well appointed. Breakfast is a gourmets delight. You just could not ask for a better place to stay. My wife and I have stayed at many B&Bs in the eastern U.S. and Americus Garden Inn is our one and only favorite. Have stayed in the Magnolia and Scarlett Suites. Both are very romantic!

Romantic Getaway

Tired of the hustle and bustle of Atlanta, we were pleased to discover this jewel in Americus, GA. From Susan's porch step greeting "Welcome to our home!" until the departing farewell hug, we were treated with true southern hospitality. Everything about the stay exceeded our expectations. The food was world class - both in taste and presentation. Kim & Susan provided just the right touch of friendliness with an eye for our every need. Would we stay there again? Absolutely. We loved it and look forward to our next Romantic Getaway.

Romantic Honeymoon and Wedding Anniversary Return

This was our second stay at the Americus Garden Inn! Kim and Susan have a passion for what they do. The experience of visiting a B&B far exceeds that of a traditional hotel. Kim and Susan make you feel wanted and important to them. The home is a beautiful place that takes you back in time. Everything is clean and the bed was comfy. The icing on this stay is the amazing breakfast that Susan pours her heart into! Yummy! As Kim serves breakfast the conversation is nice and he keeps your mug full. Thanks for making our honeymoon and 8th wedding anniversary so special!

Rendezvous with Romance Getaway

Fantastic place to spend a few days away from the real world. We stayed in the Scarlett Room which is very romantic, large and spacious with a king sized bed, a sitting area with a sofa and chair. Wonderful breakfast and welcoming innkeepers Kim and Susan provided for a 5 star experience. You will not find a cleaner place to stay.

My Romantic Birthday

This year for my b-day we decided to go to Georgia to visit friends and I always wanted to experience the romance of a Bed and Breakfast, but in my wildest dreams I could not imagine how wonderful our stay turned out. everything was ready for us from the moment we arrived to the second we checked out, even a Happy-B Day sign on our room door. Cleanliness is very important to me and I am picky but I could not even find a speck of dirt throughout the entire house, The food was out of this world all fresh and homemade. The service the attention and the warmth provided by Susan and Kim was what made the stay above and beyond our high expectations. We will always cherish in our memories the friends we made on our stay. I can highly recommend the Americus Garden Inn to any type of traveler, it is truly a wonderful place to visit and be pampered at,completely different from a hotel stay.

One of the Very Best

I have stayed in many Inns, B&Bs, Guest Houses etc in many European countries, Morocco, Caribbean and the US and this is unquestionably one of the best. The house itself is very beautiful and peaceful. The ambience created by Susan and Kim is very welcoming and their interesting conversation helps to make a guest feel welcome as a person ,not simply as a customer. I also very much liked the freedom guests have to help themselves at any time to quality tea and coffee with a range of snacks. This is well worth a detour if you don`t have other reasons to be in the area. Robert Graham -Travel writer author of "Coffee in Cuba"

Again and Again, the Best Romance in Georgia

Susan and Kim are the very tops in innkeepers. Their Inn is beautiful, the house itself, and the garden is incredible. Sit and relax in the gazebo and listen the birds.......the bubbling of the pond...........Susan is a world class cook, at least of breakfast. My husband and I continue to stop for a day or two spring and fall. Perfectly romantic and peaceful.

Best of the Best, Historic and Romantic

What better way to celebrate 51 years of marriage than to spend it with Kim and Susan in their absolutely beautiful Inn. We treasure already their friendship, outstanding hospitality, delicious food, and such helpful lessons in history and suggestions to guide us in exploring the Americus attractions. This allowed us to capitalize on our time so that we got to see and do so much more than what we had expected. Their aim to make their guests feel at home was evident from the first moment we met them. Thank you, Kim and Susan, for your giving hearts to us and to all who come through your doors.

Romantic, Restful, Rejuvenating Spring Break Getaway

My husband and I had the pleasure to stay 2 nights at the Americus Garden Inn with Susan and Kim. I am a teacher on Spring Break and my husband was recovering from minor surgery. We saw pictures and reviews from AGI and decided it would be just the ticket for a quick get-a-way. OMG it was more than we thought it could be. From the moment you are greeted at the door it is very apparent that Susan and Kim put much thougth into making your stay a pleasant experience. Susan greeted us and made us feel like old friends. She gave us a tour of the Inn, giving insights as we went. She then offered us suggestions for dining, touring and "things to do." She and Kim are both very knowledgeable about the Americus area--even though we have been in the area several times they came up with things to do and places to go that we didn't know about. We stayed in the Scarlett room and like its namesake stated we decided that work and obligations would be something we would "think about tomorrow." The room and en suite provided everything we could possibly need. The bed was sooo inviting, the linens soft on the skin and soaking in the garden tub caused my aching muscles to relax. We have stayed at B & Bs before but this one is definately the tops. We awoke the next morning to the wonderful aroma of freshly brewed coffee and Mocha Muffins with toasted pecans (the pecans came from the tree on the property!). As Rachel Ray would say "YUMMO," followed by fruit, eggs Carbarnara and apple pancakes. I think we waddled out that morning because it was all so delicious we didn't want to leave anything--Kim wrapped up the extra muffins for us to have as a snack, a very nice gesture. The only thing that could have equaled that breakfast was the Carrot Cake muffins, egg & cheese pie and sausage pancakes we had the next day. The food was truly outstanding. We enjoyed strolling around the gardens, enjoying their beauty and ended the stroll swinging in the gazebo swing. This provides such a relaxing place to get away to. Susan and Kim both have the art of listening-really listening-- to what you have to say. From the big things like a food that you are allergic to, down to the little things like we enjoy lemons with our glass of water, they remember and try to provide all the extras to make your stay enjoyable. It has been over 6 years since we were in the Americus area (a different B & B), but it will NOT be that long before we plan a return trip to the Inn. I would heartily recommend it to anyone that wants an enjoyable stay at a remarkable Inn.

Wow! First B&B Experience - Awesome

This was our first experience at a B&B was - Americus Gardens. Owners Kim and Susan were wonderful hosts! They were great making us both feel like we were just staying with family. The beds were very comfortable and provided us with one of the best nights rest that we've had in months. Each morning the breakfast was delicious and the talks with the Kim and Susan and the other quest was something that my wife and I looked forward to. Susan and Kim also made sure we were given maps and information of local events and restaurants in the area which all came in very handy. This is an experience that we will definitely repeat!

Second Romantic Honeymoon

We visited Americus Garden Inn for our 30th wedding anniversary and could not have asked for a better experience. Susan and Kim were exceptional hosts. Susan saw to it that our stay was special as we celebrated our anniversary. She even took pictures of us in the garden. Lots of attention to detail and pampering. It was like staying with old friends who just happen to live in a beautiful historic house. We are already planning a return trip.

Wonderful and Romantic B&B

Our stay at Americus Garden Inn was wonderful! Susan and Kim were over-the-top when it comes to providing EVERYTHING one would possibly want or need from a Host. From helpful maps before arriving to a warm and friendly greeting upon arrival to Information and assistance in scoping out the room and surroundings, these folks KNOW how to do bed and breakfast! They provide coffee, snacks and soft drinks along with a beautiful house, front porch, beautiful yard and gardens in which to relax. Our room was large, beautifully decorated, clean and the King sized bed was very comfortable. Our hosts were informed about area restaurants, shops, etc...and offered suggestions upon request. The breakfast was delicious! Susan paid special attention to dietary issues we have and prepared a fantastic breakfast just for us! The bottom line is simply this: If you travel through Americus, Georgia, do yourself a favor and stay at Americus Garden Inn. You will enjoy the history of this beautiful home and you will be blown away by the incredible service you will receive from Susan and Kim.

Romantic and Relaxing Jacuzzi Room

We stayed in the jacuzzi room. I loved the decor of the room (blue is my favorite color so that was an add bonus) as well as the rest of the inn. The jacuzzi was fantastic for relaxing after a long days drive or sightseeing excursion. The bed was extremely comfortable with wonderfully soft linens and extra pillows. The grounds surrounding the inn were beautiful with tons of flowers and nice little windy pathways. Breakfast was tasty and unique. Kim and Susan were friendly and knowledgeable about the area. We had a great time all around, will go back if the opportunity arises and would definitely recommend this inn to our friends, family and anyone looking for a relaxing, hospitality filled place to stay in the Americus area.

Fabulous Second Visit

We stayed in 4 different B&Bs during our 3 week excursion. None, I repeat NONE, compared to the stay we had at the Americus Garden Inn!!! It is so clean, even for this Ms. Cleanfreak, well maintained, offers the guests plenty of comfort amenities - everything from snacks and drinks to heavenly sheets and delicious, health conscious breakfasts. This was our second visit and this time we brought friends with us to enjoy this well run B&B. We especially enjoyed our postprandial evening walks on the path through the beautiful garden and the attentiveness of our knowledgeable hosts, Susan and Kim.

A Romantic Vacationer's Dream

I can't say enough about this place. Kim and Susan are the dearest people. They have thought of everything. They have pop, coffee, tea, snack available all day and night. She is an excellent cook. Kim was so helpful as to what to see and where to go . Susan and Kim treated us like we were the most special people in the place. even though they had plenty other guests. The House is so beautiful and romantic. The gardens are a joy to walk through. I will be coming back to this gorgeous place. And if you were smart you would also. The care given by these two wonderful caring people is beyond words.

Relaxing and Romantic Haven

You're in for a treat when you stay at the Americus Garden Inn. First off, prepare to get pampered. Kim and Susan thought of everything to make our stay enjoyable, starting with tailored driving directions since GPS instructions evidently are not always reliable. Upon our arrival they shared their knowledge about the house which gave us an appreciation of our surroundings. We stayed in "The Library" room which was spacious and well-appointed. You can "tickle the ivories" on their piano, stroll the graveled paths of their garden, or just sit a spell outside on their various benches, the arbored swing, or in the gazebo. Susan and Kim catered to our vegan diets and prepared a scrumptious breakfast, accompanied by entertaining tales as to how they came to be proprietors of the inn. They respected our privacy and understand the importance of guests desiring a quiet, romantic environment. They were familiar with surrounding points of interest and furnished us maps plus pointers for traveling. Bonus: If you're into cats, watch for their adopted outdoor furry friends.

Old South Hospitality and Romantic Charm

Hosts/Owners Kim and Susan have a first class B & B with their romantic and historic Antebellum home in Americus' Historic District. The property is exceptionally maintained with obvious care and dedication. Goodies for guests were centrally located and the breakfast, a culinary masterpiece. Concern for those like myself with dietary preferences was addressed wonderfully. Kim is an encyclopedia of knowledge for inquiring guests. Susan's attentiveness to guests needs is unsurpassed. The house is well appointed yet oh so comfortable. Mint juleps, fine wine or a good cold beer go well on the back porch or the shady verandah. Although the lack of the classic southern drawl indicates that Kim and Susan may be from parts north of the Mason-Dixon line they exemplify Southern Hospitality that would put Miss Scarlett a blushing. 5 stars !!!!!!

A Little Slice of Heaven in Americus Georgia

My sister and I stayed for two nights at the Inn last week. WONDERFUL barely begins to describe the experience! From the moment Susan met us at the car till she waved goodbye from the porch, we were treated like special friends. The Magnolia Room was beautiful, comfortable, and clean. The common rooms of the house are lovingly and beautifully decorated and so very welcoming. And the breakfasts--oh, my!! Fabulous! Susan took our likes and dislikes into consideration and made the most delicious things for us. Cappuccino muffins, nutty oatmeal pancakes, blueberry strata...... so many good things! She and Kim are the most wonderful hosts. They are very warm and friendly and we spent a lot of pleasurable time chatting with them. Yet, they allowed us as much private time as we wanted. A perfect mix of both. We spent time walking in the beautiful garden and time relaxing in the gazebo. My sister especially enjoyed time spent with the "host cats" who joined us on our outside ventures. We went to the National Historic Site at Andersonville and the Jimmy Carter Historical Site and Farm in Plains and recommend both for daytime excursions. Our evenings were spent laughing our heads off trying to answer the trivia cards on the dining room tables. We had such a fantastic sister-time together; a memory for a lifetime! I've stayed at some very good B&B's but this was, by far, the BEST! For my sister's first stay at a B&B, well, she just began at the top! Loved having drinks and snacks available 24/7 as well as hot water for evening coffee--very important! This couple truly has a gift for hospitality. It shows in every personal touch when you stay at their beautiful home. Treat yourself to this little slice of heaven on earth; you won't regret it!

Fantastic Stay

We stayed at the Inn this past week. We were visiting President Carter's church in nearby Plains, GA. This is the best stay at any inn we have ever experienced. The Inn is beautiful and well kept. Our breakfast was absolutely delicious. It was all home-made by Susan. We are picky about where we stay, and we do not normally stay at inns. The owners, Kim and Susan, made our stay so comfortable. It is obvious that they want to have visitors in their home. This husband and wife team make every guest feel welcome. Finally, we are coffee lovers, and the coffee they serve for breakfast is fair trade and delicious

Perfect for Single Male Traveler, Too!

Im not usually a B&B type of traveler. Im used to the anonymity of hotels, minding my own business and coming and going as I please. But, after researching lodging in Americus, I had a hard time passing up a chance to stay at Americus Garden Inn. It turned out to be a memorable experience. First of all, the house is beautiful, located in the historic district across from a small park. Rooms are spacious and beautifully appointed and painstaking detail has been paid to restoration. The owners will gladly share their knowledge about the house and their experience restoring it. I stayed in the Magnolia Room, a spacious upstairs room that was decorated in calm, soothing yellow tones that invited relaxation. The bathroom was large and everything was very clean. And for such an old house, I never heard a single creak in the floor. I loved the parlor on the first floor, a great place to sit and relax, read a book or visit with other guests. Its right next to the dining room, where snacks and drinks are available 24 hours a day. The hosts truly want you to feel at home. Its also where breakfast is served, a breakfast unlike any other Ive had on the road. A lot of thought and attention is put into the menu and we enjoyed heirloom cornmeal pancakes among other things. Recipes are unique and Susan is creative and playful in the kitchen which provides for a delightful breakfast. The attention to detail is impressive and Kim and Susan have seemingly thought of everything. Theyre also a font of knowledge regarding area attractions. And because I had such a terrific experience, Ive comfortably chosen to use B&Bs during subsequent travels. This was one of the best stays Ive ever had, in any type of lodging.

Warm Hospitality

Thank you for your warm hospitality at Americus Garden Inn, Kim and Susan. The little touches at your B&B provided a warm welcome and much comfort. Kim, your greeting when arriving made us feel at home from the beginning of our three day stay and exemplified why you have received awards over the past years - may the future hold many more. Americus is a fine Southern jewel.

A Treasure in Americus

We love everything about your B&B, especially YOU! We are already planning our return. Thank you for making your inn comfortable, peaceful and safe. Such a haven from our chaotic, hurried world. We feel we discovered a treasure - YOU! This was the best experience, best breakfast and best conversations. Thank you so much.

Great Retreat in Georgia

Wow! What can I say, but that everything was simply the greatest - from the B&B house itself, to the beautiful grounds, to the delicious food and most of all - the care, giving, and sharing of yourselves + the sharing of this part of Georgia with everyone. What more can I say, but it is great to know that I have a 2nd home to retreat to for the future...

Americus Garden Inn-Great Experienc

This B&B is a charming victorian home. The accommodations are very comfortable and include all amenities. Our room was spacious and very comfortable. Susan and Kim, the innkeepers, are the best. They pay attention to every detail. They were available but not hovering. The living room area was very comfortable and we enjoyed an after dinner visit with my sister and her husband, who were also guests. The breakfast was fabulous--everything homemade and great coffee. The town of Americus has many older, restored homes; the area offers several historical sites. We were about 10 miles from Plains, Georgia, home of former President Jimmy Carter. We will definitely return to the Americus Garden Inn!

One of a Kind

Susan and Kim are excellent hosts. The "breakfast" in "bed and breakfast" takes on new meaning in Susan's kitchen. Every morning a delicious, healthy and visually beautiful culinary feast. (She gladly accommodated a food allergy or two, as well). The rooms are varied one to the next (over the years I've stayed in 4 different ones) but each is decorated with exquisite taste with no sacrifice in comfort. The setting benefits from Kim's lovely gardening and tons of light. It's worth heading south (or north) with the Americus Garden Inn as your destination. One of a kind, for sure.

What we expected ...and more!

My colleague and I live and work in the Atlanta area. We both love literature, history, and share an admiration for President Jimmy Carter. Weeks ago we planned this "get-away" to Andersonville, Americus, and Plains, GA, hoping that it would be both educational, inspirational, and relaxing. We found all that we expected, and more! The Americus Garden Inn was simply lovely! Innkeepers Kim & Susan Egelseer were such gracious hosts, complete with the smell of fresh-baking break in the morning, history lessons about the home and area, and recommendations for our Saturday evening meal in Americus. Sandy and I returned to Atlanta refreshed...relaxed from our very pleasant stay at the Inn, touched by the sites and sounds of Andersonville, and inspired by our beloved President Jimmy Carter! This trip will always be a special memory for us. We would definitely recommend it to others!
