Candied Cherry Slices

Great Christmas cookie, this freezes well and is always a big hit.

1 cup butter
1 cup powdered sugar
1 unbeaten egg
1 tsp vanilla
2 1/4 cups flour
1 cup chopped nuts
2 cups green or red candied cherries cut in half

Cream butter and sugar, blend in egg and vanilla. Add flour and mix well. Fold in nuts and candied cherries. Divide dough into 3 romms, wrap in waxed paper or plastic wrap. Chill 3 hr. or overnight. Cut rolls into 1/4 slices. Bake at 325 for 13-15 minutes. These freeze well.
