This tasty dish can also be made using chicken in place of the pork chops.

4 boneless pork chops
1/4 cup all purpose flour
Salt and freshly ground black pepper
2 tablespoons butter
1/2 cup maple syrup
1 teaspoon dried savory
1/2 teaspoon dried thyme
1/4 teaspoon dried sage
1 onion, sliced
1/2 cup water

Dredge chops in flour seasoned with salt and pepper to taste. In a heavy, flame-proof casserole dish, heat butter until bubbling and brown pork chops quickly on both sides. Pour maple syrup over chops. Sprinkle with savory, thyme and sage. Pour water into the bottom of casserole. Bake, uncovered, in a 350 degree oven for 50-60 minutes or until tender, basting chops occasionally with pan juices.
