North Country Glacier Melter

An egg/milk/bread casserole with a warm/spicy kick from South of the Border!

6 T Butter
12 Wheat Bread Slices, trimmed
1 t Garlic Powder
6 Marinated Artichoke Hearts, drained & chopped
1-7oz. Can Mild Chilies, diced
1 t Jalapeno Chilies, diced
3 T Real Mayonnaise
1-1/2 C Parmesan Cheese, grated
Milk Mix:
3 Large Eggs, beaten till creamy yellow
1 3/4 C Milk
6 Thin cross slices of red bell pepper
3/4 C Parmesan Cheese, grated

Preparation: Melt butter in microwave in 9x13 casserole. Dip 1 side of 6 bread slices in butter to cover lightly; set aside. Place remaining 6 slices in remaining butter in casserole. Top bread with Filling mix. Place 6 buttered bread slices over Filling, butter side up. Mix eggs and milk and pour over bread stacks. Top each bread slice with 1 slice of red bell pepper and 2 T parmesan cheese. Cover and refrigerate 1 hour or overnight. Bake, uncovered in preheated 350-degree oven for 45 minutes or till knife inserted in center comes out clean.
