Old Fashinoned Molasses Cookier
Ingredients:
1 cup packed brown sugar 3/4 cup shortening 1/4 cup molasses 1 egg 2 1/4 cups flour 2 teaspoons baking soda 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon 1 teaspoon ground ginger 1/2 teaspoon ground cloves 1/4 teaspoon salt 3 tablespoons sugar Directions: Heat oven to 325. Beat brown sugar, shortening, molasses and egg. Stir in remaining ingredients except granulated sugar. Shape dough with ice cream scoop into rounded 1 1/2 inch balls. Dip balls into granulated sugar. Place balls, sugar side up on ungreased cookie sheet. Bake 13-16 minutes or just until set and cookies appear dry. Remove from cookie sheet to wire rack. Makes about 2 dozen 3" cookies.
