Vermont Pear Bread

Description: From The Governor's Inn in Ludlow Vermont. An alternative to the standard quick bread. Pear bread is very simple and really good. There will be no leftovers. Ingredients: 9 TBS butter at room temp 1 cup sugar 2 eggs 2 cups flour 1/2 tsp salt 1/2 tsp baking soda 1 tsp baking powder pinch of nutmeg 1/4 cup buttermilk 1 cup coursely chopped ripe pears 1 tsp vanilla 1/2 cup chopped walnuts (optional) Directions: Cream butter, gradually beat in sugar. Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Combine dry ingredients and add to egg mixture alternately with buttermilk. Fold in pears and vanilla. Add nuts. Pour into prepared loaf pan.
