St. Louis Gooey Butter Cake began as an accident in the kitchen and turned into a St. Louis tradition with which we fell in Love when we lived there.

Tomato Pie

Tomato Pie is a tasty quiche like dish. This is a real guest pleaser for breakfast or lunch or for a light supper. Summertime and a mix of heirloom tomatos make for a dish to rave about.

Fritz\'s Pumpkin Cake

This is a really tasty cake which may be used as a sweet ending to breakfast or for any meal. It is fun and spicy. If you have a source of Pumpkin Ice Cream it makes a great pairing.

Green Chiles/Egg Bake

Green Chiles/Egg Bake is a flavorful breakfast or brunch entree. Serve it along with your favorite breakfast meat and maybe add a salad or sliced tomatos for brunch.

Wonderful

Overall Joe & Myrna made the trip what it was. They kept the home gorgeously kept, with great accommodations, and wine to go with any request. The food was delicious, and the conversations had were better than most you will have with your family.

Wonderful break away without breaking the bank

Market Street Inn is a lovely respite for rest and relaxation in a beautifully restored Victorian house. Each room is tastefully decorated, amenities are wonderful and the Inn Keeper friendly and helpful. We were served a delicious breakfast and then spent the morning by the fireplace reading as the weather was bad. Market Street Inn is great value and lots of fun.

So peaceful, relaxing and charming

Saturday, April 28, 2018 Excellent experience over a one-night stay this week, I wish it were longer! The room was comfortable, the bath luxurious, the breakfast awesome. I spent some time chatting with the owners and they are terrific folks.

A jewel in small town America

We stayed at Market Street Inn last Thanksgiving holiday. We were in town to visit family and really just wanted a nice clean place to stay. We knew it would be good, but we were really impressed and everything exceeded our expectations. The hospitality was outstanding and the antique decor in the main house was wonderful!!!!!

Midwestern Gem is Sure to Please!

My husband and I had never been to a Bed and Breakfast before and wanted to find a place to get away and reconnect. We couldn't have asked for a more perfect weekend. Myrna and Joe (whom I called Alan Alda due to the uncanny resemblance) were the epitome of hospitality and sparkling conversation, both of which are often neglected in this fast-paced world. The room was perfection, the breakfast superb, and the obvious care of the hosts for the comfort of their guests was outstanding. This is THE B&B to visit if you are looking for a romantic getaway, relaxing weekend, or want to reconnect with what makes the midwest so special: our wonderful people. Thanks, Joe and Myrna, for the amazing memories! Lindsey and Aaron

A very fine 'half-way-house'

We met friends from Tennessee half-way between their house and our Iowa residence. The center point was Taylorville, Illinois. We'd never heard of Market Street Inn previously but were happy to discover it. We may visit there again.

Great romantic getaway

Lovely B&B in a small town. The owners have maintained the 1890 property well. The architecture is beautiful. The Tempurpedic bed was so comfortable and the whirlpool tubs were a nice touch. The candlelight breakfast also lovely. This experience made for a great romantic getaway.

Taylorville Victorian Gem

If you want a romantic hideaway a short drive to Springfield, Market St B&B is outstanding. Our host and hostess were gracious, personable and welcoming. If you needed anything Myrna and Joe were ready and waiting to help. The 1892 Victorian home is beautiful with lovely gardens. The highlight was the outstanding breakfast in the formal dining room. We would have loved to sit on the incredible porch but due to a rainy weekend we will have to come back another weekend. So much to do in Springfield. We wish we had had time to walk the charming Square in Taylorville but that too will have to wait.

Wonderful stay!

Loved our stay at this inn. Myrna & Joe become quick friends - the porch is THE place to be! So much fun meeting some really nice people. The room was adorable, clean, comfortable and had everything we needed. The Inn is beautiful and the breakfast was delicious. This is my new go-to place when I come home to visit.

Home Away From Home

After moving from Illinois, this was our 6th year at the Market Street Inn! Our entire family, traveling to Illinois from 5 states, base out of the Inn for one week. The accomodations, the food, the atmosphere are more than expected when traveling. Joe and Myrna go out of their way to make us feel "at home". This beautiful, elegant Victorian Home is one not to be missed!

Quiet Comfort

Excellent service for our business meeting with very quiet rooms and lots of amenities. We were treated like kings while afforded privacy to conduct meetings, at half what it would cost for a regular hotel. The rooms are outstanding, the food excellent, the staff very attentive to every need, and the ambiance makes you forget you are even working. A must stay for business travelers in the area.

What a way to start the new year!

The bed, the breakfasts and the boundless hospitality of the hosts (the impish Joe and the lovely Myrna) are in a word BODACIOUS! Not only that, but gluten free friendly too! Usually having to eat gluten free means feeling deprived while watching everyone else devour tasty treats......not so at Market Street Inn. Check it out!

Top of our List of B & B's

My husband and I were impressed with the cleanliness and hospitality Myrna and Joe offered us. We have stayed in many B & B's and this is at the top of our list. Myrna graciously made a special breakfast for me because of my food allergies and told my husband about a fantastic gym where he was able to work out, while I was presenting a workshop at the local hospital. The hospital staff suggested the Inn and told us how generous and well liked Myrna and Joe are in the Taylorville community. We can see why. They are lovely, knowledgeable and thoughtful host. Joe even sent me a poem he thought I would enjoy and Myrna referred me to her association for a future workshop. 5++++ rating!
