Description: This is a special family recipe given to me by a good friend (Any)in a Longenberger Recipe Box when we first bought the inn in 2003. Ingredients: 1 Stick unsalted btter 2 c flour 4 tsp baking powder 1/2 tsp salt Enough milk to make a soft dough 1 egg yolk 1/4 tsp (for top) Directions: Rub butter with flour, baking powder, and salt. Add milk gradually to make a soft dough. DO NOT knead. Roll out dough on floured board, (lots of flour) to 1/2 inch thickness. Cut with cookie cutter in even circles. Put on cookie sheet. Paint tops with egg & milk wash. Preheat oven to 450 F. Bake 15-20 min. until tops are golden. Recipe Summary: Yield: 12 scones Prep Time: 20 min. Cook Time: 20 min.
