Breakfast Creme Brulee
Description:
This less sweet, egg-y brulee is a great source of protein in the morning! Ingredients: 2 cups whole milk 2 eggs 2 egg yolks 1/3 cup sugar 1 t vanilla Nutmeg Directions: Preheat oven to 300 degrees. In a medium saucepan, bring milk to a simmer over medium-low heat. In a bowl, whisk eggs, yolks, sugar, vanilla, and nutmeg. Pour egg mixture into simmering milk, careful to add slowly while whisking. Pour mixture through a strainer into 4 oz. ramekins. Place ramekins in a baking pan and pour hot water into pan until it reaches halfway up the sides of the ramekins. Bake until custard is just set (middles will jiggle a little), about 35-40 minutes. Let cool in water bath for about 2 hours. Custard should be served room temperature, so if made the day before, custards should be removed from refrigerator prior to serving to allow to warm. Burn the surface with a bit of sugar if desired. Serves 6. Recipe Summary: Yield: 6 Comments: Other recipes by Maine Stay Inn & Cottages: Apple Crisp Eggs With Cream And Spinach |
