French Pear Tarte
Description:
Great for that first little sweet in the morning! Ingredients: 6 large ripe pears (any variety, I use Asian) 1 T lemon juice 10 T. flour 3/4 tsp. baking powder 6 T. sugar 1/4 C. vegetable oil 1/2 C.milk 2 eggs 1/2 tsp. almond extract Pinch salt Topping: 1/4 C. butter Sugar to sprinkle 1/2 tsp. nutmeg 1/4 C. slivered almonds Directions: Peel, core and slice the fruit then sprinkle with lemon juice, turning gently to mix with all the fruit and keep it from browning. Combine remaining ingredients in order. Pour into a buttered shallow 10 inch cake pan. Arrange sliced pears on top. Dot with butter topping and sprinkle with nutmeg and sugar mixture. Sprinkle almonds over the top. Serve with whipped cream and chopped nuts. Also good with apples instead of pears. Recipe Summary: Yield: 4-6 servings Prep Time: About 25 minutes.
