Natural Granola
Description:
A healthy combination of unrefined ingredients that tantalizes the taste buds and gets you off to a good start for the day. The recipe may be varied and for those who prefer a sweeter taste, drizzling honey over the cereal after adding milk is perfect! Ingredients: One stick butter 1/4 cup canola oil One TBL vanilla 1/2 cup honey One cup hulled sesame seeds One cup bran flakes One cup rye flakes (optional) One cup flaked or shredded coconut - UNSWEETENED 7 cups old-fashioned oats (not quick) One cup raisins Directions: Melt in Dutch oven: one stick butter then add 1/4 cup vegetable oil. Stir together. Add 1 tablespoon vanilla 1/2 cup honey Melt & stir. Add dry ingredients. (Turn off burner & turn on oven at 350 degrees). Mix in: 1 cup hulled sesame seeds 1 cup bran flakes 1 cup rye flakes (optional) 1 cup flaked or shredded coconut – unsweetened 7 cups OLD FASHIONED QUAKER OATS (not quick). Stir from bottom of pan. It won’t be very wet. Toast in oven about 45 minutes – 1 hour. Check & stir every 10 – 15 minutes. When the granola is to the desired darkness, remove. Cool for 10 minutes. Stir in 1 cup raisins. Refrigerate. Taste can be varied with the use of molasses and cinnamon.
