Cranberry Pie

Don\'t let the name scare you. I call this yummy coffee cake/pastry, Cranberry Pie because I make it in a pie plate. This is a favorite here at Second Wind and it\'s my favorite too, for the simple reason it\'s so simple. Guests always ask for this recipe

Camp Fire Pineapple Upside Down Cake

This is a fun breakfast at the camp fire (individually wrapped in tin foil and baked on coals). We do this with our long term guests or groups just to give them a yummy, unique experience. I also will serve fruit salad, fresh bread, coffee and juice.

French Waffles

Wonderful, easy and unique. Our guests love them.

What a wonderful honeymoon!

We stayed at Second Wind this winter for our honeymoon, and we can't wait to go back! Mark and Kelly are warm hosts who quickly became friends (along with the rest of the family). The house is beautiful and the rooms are very nice. The food was incredible; on one night we went to a nearby restaurant to splurge on a $100 dinner for two, but we preferred the candlelight dinner that Mark and Kelly prepared for us! Kelly helped me set up a surprise for my wife by having a massage therapist come to Second Wind to give us each a massage. There was no shortage of things to do in the winter wonderland of northern Wisconsin. The house is filled with bookshelves full of books and there is a wide supply of games. We even sat in with Mark and Kelly and some of their kids to play games one night. We are so thankful we chose Second Wind!

Heaven on Earth

Second Wind Country Inn is a fantastic place to get away from the rat race and catch your "Second Wind". From the comfortable rooms and northwoods themed decor to the delectable treats for breakfast (mmmmmmmm... I can still taste the raspberry/lemon curd scones) you will be convinced this is where heaven got its ideas.

A Wonderful Un-expected Get Away

Staying at Second Wind was my first time ever staying at a B&B and I couldn’t have asked for more. The innkeepers, Mark and Kelly, are a similar version of my own parents, very warm and inviting, offering all their love and kindness to every guest’s stay. Their children are a reflection of their parenting, and are just as warm and welcoming as Mark and Kelly. Not only is this family amazing, but the house is substantial, and each individual room is a unique experience anyone would enjoy. Kelly also does an astonishing job decorating creating an at home feeling while each room has its own individual theme. Much like the hospitality, the breakfast was phenomenal. Kelly has astounding recipes, and I’m not talking about your ordinary bacon and eggs. My experience of Second Wind was a perfect quiet weekend, a much-needed getaway, and we plan to make this a yearly vacation! You wont be disappointed.

Clean Comfort with Country Charm

Kelly and Mark have made both of our stays at Second Wind outstanding. The breakfasts have been wonderful and the inkeepers make you feel like family. The inn itself is beautiful and quite new with rustic details like log beds and trim to make the guys feel at home and pampering amenities like soaking whirlpool tubs to please the ladies. We are already planning our next two trips there!

Second Wind

We feel Second Wind Country Inn is the best place to stay in Ashland and the surrounding area. Just minutes outside of town, yet in a country setting "charming" is the best way to describe it. From the immaculate rooms with all of their luxuries, to the amazing breakfasts, to the Innkeepers themselves, it was a stay we will never forget! We can't wait to return!

Relax, Refresh, Revive

When I am in need of a place to regroup, a quiet spot in beautiful surroundings with a gracious host and hostess, I first think of Second Wind Country Inn. Oh! Can't wait to get back there again!
