Mom's Old-fashioned Apple Fritters
Description:
Just like mom used to make! Ingredients: 1 cup sifted all-purpose flour 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder 1 Tablespoon sugar 1/4 teaspoon salt 1 teaspoon cinnamon 1 egg, beaten 1 Cup sour cream 1/3 cup milk 1 tablespoon melted shortening 2 large apples oil for deep frying Directions: Sift together dry ingredients. Whisk egg and milk together and add sour cream. Combine with flour mixture; beat until smooth. Add shortening and mix well. Peel and core fruit. Cut into wedges or rings. Dip into batter and fry in hot oil (370 degrees) until brown; approximately 4 minutes. Remove from oil and drain over paper towels. Sprinkle with cinnamon sugar or powdered sugar and serve.
