Woody's Pear Crisp
Description:
Melt-in-your-mouth fabulous! Serve warm with homemade whipped cream, sliced almonds and freshly ground cloves. Ingredients: Topping: 1/2 Cup butter 1/4 Cup white sugar 1/4 Cup brown sugar 1/2 Cup flour 1/4 teaspoon salt 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon 1/2 Cup regular old-fashioned oats Crisp: 2 1/2 - 3 lbs Bartlett Pears Washed, pealed and cored; sliced very thin, using a mandoline. 1 teaspoon cardamom 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg Directions: Crisp Topping: Cream butter and sugars; add flour, salt, cinnamon and oats; mix until crumbly. This mix can be made ahead and stored in the freezer for several weeks. For the Crisp: Spray 6 individual baking dishes with cooking spray or brush the inside with melted butter. Wash, peal, core and slice pears. In a large bowl, toss pears with cardamom and nutmeg. Divide pears among baking dishes and top with crisp topping. Bake at 350 degrees until pears are tender and topping begins to brown; approximately 20 minutes.
