Orange Buttermilk Pound Cake

Description:
A large, delicious pound cake whether iced or not. I have made it with coconut extract and pineapple extract instead of the orange.

Ingredients:
2 cups sugar
1 cup shortening
4 eggs which have been warmed up to room temp.
2 tsp. orange extract
3 cups flour
1 cup buttermilk to which has been added 1/4 tsp. baking soda

Directions:
Cream sugar and shortening. Add eggs 1 at a time beating well between. Add flour alternately with buttermilk/baking soda beginning and ending with flour. Pour into tube cake pan. Place in COLD oven and set temp. at 325 degrees. Bake 1 hour and 10 mins. or until toothpick comes out clean.
