Two Cheese Strata

A breakfast casserole which can be prepared the night before. The Smoked Gouda gives this recipe the added richness and flavor which sets it apart from others.

1 1/2 baguette, sliced into 1/2" thick rounds
3 oz. butter, melted
2 c. cheddar cheese, grated
2 c. smoked Gouda cheese, grated
3 c. half and half
1 c. whipping cream
1 teaspoon pepper
10 eggs
3/4 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon dry mustard
1 teaspoon seasoning salt

Spray PAM in a large deep sided baking dish. Place a layer of bread in the bottom of the dish and brush tops of bread with 1/2 of melted butter. Top with smoked Gouda cheese. Repeat bread, butter and cheese layers (using cheddar cheese to top second layer of bread). In a separate bowl mix eggs, salt, mustard, pepper together. Add half & half and whipping cream. Stir well to let salt dissolve. Pour over bread and cheese layers. Bake in preheated 350 degree oven for 20 - 30 minutes or until egg mixture is set. You may need to cover with aluminum foil to avoid over browning.
