Whole Wheat Brownies
Description:
Gooey & delicious like regular brownies, only with a little more character. Ingredients: 10 Tbsp unsalted butter 1/4 cup packed dark brown sugar 1 cup granulated sugar 3/4 cup whole wheat flour 3/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder 1 tsp baking soda 1/8 tsp salt 4 eggs 1 tsp vanilla 1 cup bittersweet chocolate chips Directions: Preheat oven to 375. Line a 9X13 baking pan with foil. Melt butter over low heat in a medium saucepan. Add sugars & stir until blended. Mix flour, cocoa powder, soda & salt. Add to saucepan & blend into a stiff mixture. Remove from heat. Whisk eggs & vanilla and add to the brownie mixture. Add the chocolate chips, stirring briefly and quickly pour the mixture into the baking pan. Bake for 15 minutes until crust is set and center is still gooey. Cool and cut into 24 square pieces, then into triangles (optional). For an over-the top rich brownie, frost with Chocolate Hazelnut Icing (see separate recipe).
