Inn Hopping in Alaska Could Start Here - 64 Miles from Anchorage

I've been thinking of visiting Alaska by Inn Hopping. This comment came in today from a couple who lives in Florida and were so pleased by their Alaska inn adventure it reminded me to get that Alaska road trip onto my calendar.

"We found ourselves at the Diamond M Ranch  during the fishing frenzy of dip netting season. A word to unsuspecting tourists,  If you are not prepared to witness the annual ritual of resident Alaskans descending upon the Kenai Peninsula to dipnet hundreds and hundreds of salmon, avoid Kenai and Soldotna.

During the middle of July. The entire area gets crazy!  Dip netting notwithstanding, the Diamond  M Ranch is a clean, quiet Alaskan experience.

We participated in a day of clamming, a hike to the Russian River Falls and the delicious Saturday evening grilled salmon potluck social...while watching caribou from the viewing deck!  The sites are FHU, level and a variety of treed and wide open pull-through quads for big rigs. We are glad we were here to experience a dip net season in Alaska...and we were glad when it was over and everything returned to normal. The staff is friendly and helpful!"
