2014Valentine’s Recipe – Picture-Perfect Heart-Shaped Pears in Creme Brulee
Oregon Inn Creates Heart-Shaped Valentine’s Recipe
Leave it to a bed and breakfast inn to come up with a dazzling recipe for the romantic month of February. There are a few steps but they are fun – such as letting the blackberries make the outside of the pears red. Serve for breakfast, a valentine tea for your best girlfriends or for a dinner dessert.
See iLoveInns.com online bed and breakfast cookbook for more innkeeper recipes – most are served year long at least once a week, so they have been fully tested and approved by guests. For the heart-shaped pears above, you can practice ahead of time or take a trip to Grants Pass, Oregon and let the innkeeper of Flery Manor make it for you. (Valentine’s Day this year is on a Friday so it’s a perfect time and excuse for a winter weekend getaway at a romantic inn.)
The Perfect Pear Blush In Crème Brule Sauce
Description:
This is an original recipe created by Marla at Flery Manor. Simple but elegant,”The Perfect Pear” Blushes in a heart shaped pool of Crème Brule sauce. Chocolate lovers can add a swirl of hot chocolate sauce. Truly decadent!!
Ingredients:
4 D’Anjou Pears
1 cup orange juice
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1 teaspoon allspice
1/2 cup fresh wild blackberries
Directions:
Peel pears and cut in half lengthways leaving the stem and core in. Pour orange juice into a 9 x 11 baking dish. Sprinkle the cinnamon and allspice over juice. Add the berries to dish along with the cut pears, cut side down. Cover dish with foil. Bake in 375 degree oven for 30 minutes. The berries in the poaching liquid rim the pears with a wonderful red color. When cool cut out core from each pear, but leave stem.
While pears are baking make your favorite Crème Brule recipe and when cool add cream to thin to sauce consistency. To assemble, spoon sauce in a heart shape in center of plate. Place pear in center and add a few berries on the side.

How smart to use the berries to add a red hue to the pears. Pears are a new love of mine and I’m always looking for good recipes.
