Vancouver: Canada’s Gateway in the West

Vancouver is one of the most renowned cities in Canada and this may be attributed to the fact that the city is the very first metropolis visitors and tourists from the U.S-Canadian border encounter. The city has also been ranked as one of the most livable cities of the world and one of the most modern as well.  Vancouver is a destination.

Local residents recommend Stanley Park for visitors in the city. The park is one of the largest parks in North America attracting almost 10 million visitors every year. The Seawall is the most popular spot in Stanley Park. This is a scenic 5.5 mile path at the edge of the water.  While this may be a great site for jogging or simply enjoying the fresh ocean breeze, there are many other trail options in this 1,000-acre park. The park has an aquarium, a sprawling nature center, and other facilities for pure fun and recreation. Vancouver bed and breakfast inns are located throughout the city.

For those who want natural settings, another choice would be Lynn Canyon Park.  Only seven miles away from the center of Vancouver, the park is ideal for picnics and trekking in lush wooded areas. There are swimming holes dotting the park, which is why it is a favorite for taking a refreshing dip during the summer.  The Lynn Canyon Ecology Centre is part of the complex. The Centre provides rich information for visitors regarding the wildlife and plants in the entire Vancouver area.

Vancouver proudly claims to have one of the few good nudist beaches in the western coast of North America. Wreck Beach is a famous beach that is patronized by nudists. The location of the beach itself makes it possible for beach-goers to frolic under the sun safe from the prying eyes of outsiders.  Steep cliffs surround the beach and an even steeper descent is necessary before one can get to the beach.

The city of Vancouver has a thriving economy and this is another reason why it is called one of the world’s most livable cities. Visitors come to Vancouver because of its unique beauty among many other attributes.
