Some inns are attracting the new crowd of work from home “office” workers. Now is a good time to plant seeds for business people to work from your inn. The most efficient way to do this is by sending photos of what it’s like to work from your inn. You might include lunch or other quiet spaces unique to your inn. As you can see below, domestic business travel will come back long before business travel abroad returns. And some of that trend can positively affect your bottom line.

Business Travel Continues to Trend Toward Recovery

The Global Business Travel Association reports, “The business travel landscape continues to be difficult in Europe and the U.S., but we do see some small glimmers of recovery here and there,” said Dave Hilfman, the interim Executive Director of GBTA.

“More companies look to be trending positively on domestic trips, with Europe still showing the most positive uplift.”

Still 74% of survey respondents report that the pandemic has curtailed all or most of their organization’s domestic business trips.”

Though it’s small, they are there and are getting lonely & craving something new – that’s why a photo might help folks dream.

Summer Isn’t Over Till It’s Over

Summer Isn’t Over Till It’s Over

Summer is predicted to be super long this year. But we’re not talking about weather. It’s because children don’t have to report physically to school in most states. And many parents don’t have to physically report to work. That means if they can afford it, they are free to go places while studying and working. Be bold and find great reasons to come to your place. And offer deals for longer stays and more packages.

Pandemic Pricing Tips

Hotel revenue optimization expert Vickram Sing shares these insights gained from managing revenue and profit for the 7th largest hotel group in the U.S.

1. Get Rid of This Belief – A lower rate is going to attract a certain type of ‘unsavory’ guest to my establishment. Reality check: There is a very good chance that the same people who paid a high rate in January 2020 are now under- or unemployed. It’s the same people, just with a smaller wallet. Everyone is looking for a deal right now and being cautious with their money. Accept some money to help you pay your bills. That’s how global recovery starts…one dollar at a time.

2. Not True – If I lower my rates now, it will take years to build up my ADR/rate again. Reality check: Thanks to the pandemic, this is simply not true anymore. This year, the world economy fell apart. In addition, people are still severely restricted as to where they can travel. Your dynamic pricing adjustments should reflect that reality. When the pent-up demand returns, simply pull up your rates up in tandem.

3. Stop OTA Warfare “Why would you decide not to work with a global hotel distribution powerhouse while your property is sitting at under 10% or 20% occupancy? …if they are sending you some business…what’s the problem?

The immediate goal should be staying alive and healthy…. It is an excellent time to collaborate with all channels to make some revenue. There are no perfect answers, but you have to take action. More
