Berry Patch Bed And Breakfast Scones

Ingredients:
2 cups all-purpose flour
1/3 cup granulated sugar
2 teaspoons baking powder
1/8 teaspoon salt
1/3 cup chilled butter and Crisco
1 egg beaten
1 teaspoon vanilla
1/2 cup half and half

Directions:
In a large bowl, combine flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
Mix the butter and Crisco together and blend into the flour mixture.
The mixture should look like coarse crumbs
In a small measuring cup combine half-and-half, egg, and vanille.
Add this to the flour mixture.
Stir until just combine. Do not overmix this mixture.
Spoon dough on a lightly greased cookie sheet.
If you want to you can add chocolate chips, raisins, fruit cherries, etc.
Top with sugar and food coloring mixture or flaked coconut.
Bake at 375 degrees for about 15 min.
