Description:
Joe Bowman, a dear friend of ours who lives in the village, gave me his recipe for corn bread. It is wonderful! Serve it with lots of butter and a big bowl of Nana's Chili or brown beans! Ingredients: 1 - Cup course ground corn meal 1 - Cup all-purpose flour 1/4 - Cup sugar 4 - Teaspoon baking powder 1/2 - Teaspoon salt 1 - Egg 1 - Cup milk 1/4 - Cup shortening (not oil) Directions: Mix all the above ingredients until smooth. Pour into a greased pan and bake at 425 degrees for 20 to 25 minutes.
