Strawberries And Cream Stuffed French Toast With Strawberry Syrup

This is one of Grandma’s Cottage most requested recipe. Ingredients: 1 - 8-ounce pkg. cream cheese soften 1/2 - Cup powder sugar 1- Tablespoon vanilla extract 1/2 - Teaspoon cinnamon 4 - Croissants sliced in half 3 - Cups strawberries, hulled and sliced 3 - Eggs beaten 2- Tablespoon cream 2- Tablespoon powder sugar Warm Strawberry Syrup: 1/2 cup maple syrup 2-tablespoon of orange juice 3/4 cup pureed strawberries Directions: In a small bowl combine the cream cheese, 1/2 cp powder sugar, vanilla and cinnamon: mix well until smooth. Set aside. In a shallow bowl, combine the eggs and cream and whip. Set aside. Spray a large non-stick skillet with cooking spray (or melt a tablespoon of butter). Split crossants in half and dip each half into the egg mixture, turning once to cover each side. Place on a hot skillet and let each side brown. Remove from skillet onto plate. Spread each half of the hot croissant evenly with the cream cheese mixture. On the cream cheese side layer the strawberries evenly, top with another half of croissant, pressing the cream cheese side down. Press together gently, sprinkle with extra sliced strawberries and powder sugar. Serve with maple syrup, strawberry syrup or just eat plain. To make Strawberry Syrup: In a sauce pan add maple syrup, orange juice and straberries. Cook over medium heat for 5 minutes. The mixture will thicken slightly.
