Pecan Pie Squares


3 cups flour
1/2 cup, plus 2 tablespoons sugar
3/4 cup butter, softened
1/2 teaspoon salt

4 eggs, lightly beaten
1 1/2cups sugar
1 1/2 cups light corn syrup
3 tablespoons butter, melted
1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla'
2 1/2 cups chopped pecans

For crust: Heat oven to 350 degrees. Grease a 15X10X1 inch jelly roll pan. Beat flour, butter, sugar and salt in a large bowl on medium speed of electric mixer until dry and crumbly. Press firmly into pan and bake until lightly brown, about 20 minutes.

For filling:
Combine and mix eggs, sugar, corn syrup, butter, vanilla and pecans. Pour over baked layer, spreading evenly. Bake until filling is set, about 25 minutes. cool and cut into 1 1/2 inch squares.
